New introductory-level online training programme, named Space
Science and Technology Awareness Training (START), was announced recently by
the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Key Highlights:
It is an introductory-level training program for students.
The programme will cover various domains of space science, including
Astronomy & Astrophysics, Heliophysics & Sun-Earth interaction,
Instrumentation, and Aeronomy.
It will be delivered by scientists from Indian academia and ISRO
centres.
Objective is to provide students with introductory-level training
in Space Science and Technology.
About ISRO:
ISRO is the space agency of India.
ISRO was previously the Indian National Committee for Space Research
(INCOSPAR), set up by the Government of India in 1962, as
envisioned by Dr. Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai.
ISRO was formed on August 15, 1969 and superseded INCOSPAR
with an expanded role to harness space technology.
DOS was set up and ISRO was brought under DOS in 1972.
